STIX

Situated on Korte Konningstraat in the Nieuwmarkt area of town and a very clean coffeeshop too, quite modern inside. There is a large semi-circle table by the big window at the front which copuld sit 6 people no problem. The menu here is class! Prob most famous for its Nepalese Temple Ball. The drinks come in cans, rather than those 220ml bottles aswell. Never really seen more than 3-4 others in the place at the same time as me. And the female budtender is always happy to serve you, Rather a quality establishment.

Dont forget the original Stix situated on Utrechtstraat.

Quality Coffeeshop's with quality goods, try the Bubblegum 12 if they've got it.

Axeman, I've of said they were more famous for the Gunpowder than the NTB.

Edit: The view sitting at the window of the Korte Konningstraat shop:

I had heard of Stix because of it's temple ball long before I discovered ACD or VDF, take from that what you will but I only heard of gunpowder after joining the forums...

Yeah, completely forgot about the one on Utrectsraat. Went in here once a last year to pick up some Royal Stix. Didnt stay long, only a pick up. I believe they had an upstairs too.

Yes they do, the toilet's upstairs and if memory serves me correctly they dont allow people to take hot drinks up there either.

I like this place (KK) but sometimes they can make you feel a little unwelcome. When I have been there is usually a local chatting to the tender... they have tended to be a little offish. Maybe its paranoia I dunno...its happend twice now thats all.

Other times its been fine I love the layout of the shop. Big booths, nice windows and a good view. The menu is sometimes nice but I have found myself searching for a choice, on occassion I havent bought after all. Part of this reason might be because I often visit the one on US first and they have the same menu.

What I have bought is generally of good quality so I couldnt complain. I just find the staff at US nicer and they have the same smoke. I will be going back so Ill update this thread with my next experience.

Was it the Morocan/asian looking lass? Shes the onnly one whos served me in about 6-7 trips to the shop. She must be a robot or summat? or stoned Anyway shes always seems quite friendly and always been polite to me.
Redeye

nah a couple of different guys, 'sweird as the staff at US are always so friendly.

Spot on!

Strange that, I'd go as far as saying the staff at both Stix's are some of the best in Amsterdam.

Found this nice little shop when we were in AMS ,a couple weeks ago, ...friendly,low key ...think we got Sage and Sour ...maybe at 8 ....

Axeman- I went to the one on KK in May, and I was served by the Asian/Morrocan woman- she was very polite, if a little distant.
The decor is simple but tasteful, and the place do a decent coffee as well.

It sounds like Utrechstraat mate. Are the seats benches made from strips of wood.
JW

Only been to the smaller one, but it was a nice place. The jack herrer was quite a weed!

re: Moroccan/Asian woman - she's very quiet but has always been quite nice to me. The blond chap who is also there quite a bit is very nice, eager to wait on tables and such.

Overall it's a great place with a generally limited selection, but they normally have something very nice in my experience.

eh Redeye! thanks man!! yeah the benches and stuff were made from strips of wood!!

Thanks man... now i know which one i always goto.. i can try and get my ass to the other one..

which one is better ??
Redeye

np they are both good but the other is way more comfortable.
Boner

I think both have their charms, the one on Utrechtstraat is right by a tram stop and the big windows are excellent for people watching, hwere the one on Korte Konningstraat have an amazing view over the canal and like Redeye said is probaly more comfortable.
JW

...I seem to remember i ripped my trousers in there.

I was sitting on the bench, but pocket button had got stuck between the wood, and I stood up tearing half the pocket off lol
Redeye

Koopa

never been to either STIX
sonicblue

Nice shops with window seating.

The NTB someone pointed out does not seem to be as good has it has been in the past. The gear looks exactly the same so maybe their NTB was warehoused and has lost some potency over time?
cantona

only been to the small one. bought nepalese temple ball. great smoke. friendly knowledgeable budtender. took me awhile to walk there though.
